This course teaches chemical principles via in-depth examinations of current issues in sustainability and public policy, with a particular focus on the production of clean chemical fuels to power the planet. Topics to be covered include chemical equilibria, acids and bases, electrochemistry, kinetics, main group and transition elements. The relevance of these topics is highlighted through assigned readings and in-class discussions, debates, and simulations. Laboratory exercises supplement the lecture material. **Note: Students must also register for a lab section as well: either H01 or H06.
